Registry office wedding photography, London
I was delighted to be invited to photograph this lovely couple's legal wedding ceremony at London's Southwark Registry Office this Autumn. Their big event was to be in South Africa, the bride's family home, a couple of weeks later.
A simple affair, in front of close family and friends, all of whom were buzzing with excitement about the forthcoming South African adventure, it was an intimate, happy day. Not to mention, an incredibly stylish one!
The couple arrived in a bright orange Volkswagen Beetle. The groom, in a double breasted navy jacket and loafers, looked like he'd be quite comfortable in a 1980s Bond film. Meanwhile, the bride wore an understated yet stunning broderie anglaise dress with killer heels, and an absolutely beautiful array of flowers in her hair. Their style was so fitting with the style of their chosen venue.
Southwark registry office, with its Georgian architecture and beautiful brickwork dotted with redbrick archways and lined with ornate cast iron railings, provided a perfect city backdrop for the couple's legal ceremony.
The reception was back at the groom's family home where the champagne flowed and the excited chatter continued.
What really struck me while going through the photographs during the editing process, was the connection between the two, reflected in the way they would look at each other. They are tiny moments but those are the ones that photographers try so hard to capture, and when you do, it's magical. It's the little glances here and there, the knowing smiles and sometimes even the occasional adoring gaze. But it's not just about love and adoration - sometimes you see in their eyes a glimpse of their hopes for the future.
And I wish them a very happy one filled with buckets of love and laughter.
